Just like a woman bob dylan lyrics deutsch

A worried man with a worried mind No one in front of me and nothing behind There's a woman on my lap and she's drinking champagne Got white skin, got assassin's eyes I'm looking up into the sapphire tinted skies I'm well dressed, waiting on the last train Standing on the gallows with my head in a noose Any minute now I'm expecting all hell to break loose People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed This place ain't doing me any good I'm in the wrong town, I should be in Hollywood Just for a second there I thought I saw something move Gonna take dancing lessons do the jitterbug rag Ain't no shortcuts, gonna dress in drag Only a fool in here would think he's got anything to prove Lot of water under the bridge, Lot of other stuff too Don't get up gentlemen, I'm only passing through People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed Songtext-ubersetzung. Jinx and Miss Lucy, they jumped in the lake I'm not that eager to make a mistake People are crazy and times are strange I'm locked in tight, I'm out of range I used to care, but things have changed.

John Prine: 25 Essential Songs

The order of writing appears to be. Lily, Rosemary etc is a song that takes us back to Billy the Kid, and obviously relates to the thinking he had at the time of working on the movie. As such it is outside the ambit of much of the rest of the album. Tangled up in blue is different — such a magnificent work of art that it is hard to classify. It and four other songs from the album were recorded in New York in September and then again in Minneapolis in December.

One version the second appears on the album and the other the New York on Biograph. It really is necessary to hear both versions, to get to grips with the song, and indeed if you familiar with the album version I can guarantee that the Biograph version will make you stop in your tracks and just listen if you have not heard it before.

Maybe, but the basic essence of the two songs is quite different. Rather I find a man who is broken, and there really is only one way to read lines such as…. There is just so much here to hit anyone who has had a deep, intense, meaningful loving relationship which has ended with the other party leaving. So much that one could sink into its hurt and pain and never re-emerge. Perhaps I feel the song so deeply because I seem to have had far more than my fair share of such events.

I need the mists of Visions and Johanna , or the anger of Idiot Wind, not the sheer plaintive agony of this song — and again especially not that of the Biograph version. This is desolation and isolation, hopelessness and emptiness, all rolled into one song. One Friday he solemnly laid down his guitar, put his hand over his heart, and vowed that he could never write another song. It was all hopeless. He waved a purple album cover in front of us. Musically the two versions the original New York version and the later album version are very different — even the chord structure has changed, the NY version being much, much more complex, but then sounding strangely simpler because of the way the accompaniment is arranged.

I appreciate that you, dear reader, might not know what I am rambling on about when I start to do my thing about chord sequences, but please nonetheless, stay with me for a moment.

On the New York version the guitar is tuned in a completely different way and the chords are thanks to Dylanchords. Dylan is, indeed, off in a different land — a land he returned to much, much later. This is all I have. My one hope, if you are reading this, and you feel up to it ie not if you are within six months of a serious breakup and there is no sign of anyone new on the horizon , you listen to both versions of the song, and then maybe listen again, not to the voice, but to what the instruments are doing.

We are talking two different languages in the construction of this song, and that in itself is a masterpiece. Between 1 May and 29 October Dylan played this song times live.

Make of that what you will. The chronology is more or less complete and is now linked to all the reviews on the site. The index to the chronologies is here. Two great versions of a magnificent song. Another great analysis by Tony. Have you read enough?

This song kind of takes on a whole new meaning when you hear it just after your daughter leaves home for college. I rarely read about songs, but I just listened to this one abut 20x in a row, with about 10 rounds of Idiot Wind in between. You can listen to the guitars, and the piano on the release version , and it is absolutely gorgeous.

Two beautiful and truly out-of-this world experiences, wrapped into one song. Thank you for your review, Tony. My dad had the 8 track of Blood on the Tracks playing all the time. No need to say what year, 8 track is dead give away! Lol I heard it for the first time again. Great review here sir. I finally heard the New York version in the summer of I was spending a lot of time driving up and down the twenty miles of highway from our old house to the hospital where my mother was spending the last few painful weeks of her life.

I kept listening to this song, which was the only thing that seemed to match the pain I was feeling. And my mother, too, was in pain, a pain that was maddening to her. Oh my!

My guitar playing friends will make clear all of the chord you list as I only catch in my mind a few. Thank you. My take is from a Father estranged — Zero Romantic inference — but from a Father that has fucked up and is hurting terribly wanting to talk to his grown daughter that he lost. I think that many Dylan songs and poetries grew unconsciously from real relationships and things that affected his life at the time. The big girl could be Sara Lowlnds or it might also be an impossible love like Joan Baez, who was devoted to raise Gabriel Harris and was a big girl by then, same could be applied to Sara at that time where their separation was getting more into a crucial point.

It does not seem to myself that the song could have been written as a father for his daughters leaving home or so. It is more of a lovers song where the female part of the relationship that used to need him, has grown up and does need him that much anymore taking her own wings.

Anyway, first candidate is his wife at the time Sara, and the second choice could be Joan Baez. Thankis for the review. I listened to the NY version for the first toime — very different, not anywhere near so despairing, it even contains a hint of upbeat with the pedal steel? In the end, though, glad we have both versions. By the way, was Bob ever really in love with Joan Baez? She was heads over heels for him, of course. She wanted what her sister Mimi had found with Richard.

Thanks for the site! A great review. There is an omission, though, that will be a major omission to guitar players. On most of Blood in the Tracks, he plays in an alternate tuning. In this tuning, when the guitar is strummed without fretting any of the strings, a D major chord is sounded. This means that any major chord can be easily created using one finger, fretting all the strings at once also known as barring ; for example, fretting all the strings at the second fret will produce an E major, at the third fret an F major, and so on up the neck.

This tuning has a distinctive sound, due mostly to the fact that it has 2 consecutive notes in unison. Your email address will not be published. Untold Dylan. Skip to content. By Tony Attwood Updated 22 October , with addition at the end of a link to the original version.

Even at that young age, Prine could channel humor and heartbreak just like his heroes Hank Williams and Roger Miller. Prine wrote for working people, sad people, old people, and lost people. His style, inspired by John Steinbeck, was deceptively simple.

Bob Dylan - Just Like a Woman

Indeed his sentiments reek of Tin Pan Alley and his resentments breathe country music, especially those of his first influence as a teenager on the make in the desolate Iron Country of North Minnesota, Hank Williams. His first New York lover, the recently deceased Suze Rotolo, so messed with his head by leaving him for Spain in that Bob enacted a kind of dowry in song, demanding that Suze return with a present of "Spanish boots of Spanish leather, making him a kind of early Carrie from Sex and the City. Woe to the woman who tried to match Dylan in sarcastic attitude. In an era of activism, justice and accountability, romantic Dylanese was often a conscious guide to pleasure and the pain which invariably results. Certainly, Dylan, rejecting Baez, retreating into the mists for seven years to raise a family, devoting his best album, Blood on the Tracks, to the CBS record executive who granted him a new lease on love, then touring with a stone cold brace of black gospel beauties, many of whom he bedded and marrying one of those singers secretly, fathering a love child with her, has been all too typical of the controlled libertinism which has defined my generation. At 70, it makes for sexy memories and wistful might-have-beens, so alone, a stopping stone. X Newsletter Signup Please enter a valid email address. Thank you for subscribing! He tells the story of a man who marries a woman named Isis and then leaves her almost immediately, swayed by the promise of an awaiting treasure, with which he can buy her gifts of love.

Just Like a Woman: Françoise Hardy as a Muse

In the album notes of his compilation, Biograph , Dylan claimed that he wrote the lyrics of this song in Kansas City on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, , while on tour. Dylan was initially unsure what the person described in the song does that is just like a woman, rejecting "shakes", "wakes", and "makes mistakes". The improvisational spirit extends to the band attempting, in their fourth take, a "weird, double-time version", somewhere between Jamaican ska and Bo Diddley.

When Leonard Cohen was twenty-five, he was living in London, sitting in cold rooms writing sad poems. He got by on a three-thousand-dollar grant from the Canada Council for the Arts. This was , long before he played the festival at the Isle of Wight in front of six hundred thousand people. In those days, he was a Jamesian Jew, the provincial abroad, a refugee from the Montreal literary scene. Cohen, whose family was both prominent and cultivated, had an ironical view of himself. He was a bohemian with a cushion whose first purchases in London were an Olivetti typewriter and a blue raincoat at Burberry.

The Complete Soundtrack to Deutschland 83

Nobody feels any pain Tonight as I stand inside the rain Ev'rybody knows That Baby's got new clothes But lately I see her ribbons and her bows Have fallen from her curls. She takes just like a woman, yes, she does She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does And she aches just like a woman But she breaks just like a little girl. Queen Mary, she's my friend Yes, I believe I'll go see her again Nobody has to guess That Baby can't be blessed Till she sees finally that she's like all the rest With her fog, her amphetamine and her pearls. She takes just like a woman, yes, she does She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does And she aches just like a woman Songtext-ubersetzung. It was raining from the first And I was dying there of thirst So I came in here And your long-time curse hurts But what's worse Is this pain in here I can't stay in here Ain't it clear that-- I just can't fit Yes, I believe it's time for us to quit When we meet again Introduced as friends Please don't let on that you knew me when I was hungry and it was your world.
