A bar graph on the website indicating the depth of the genetic similarities could mean Rogan was closely related to this guy wearing a USC cap in his online profile photo. Adams, it turned out, had found the two close matches months earlier and was reviewing information about the family he found online.
He also was considering hiring a private investigator to check out the man he thought may have been his biological father. Just before a long holiday weekend, he hopped on an airplane to Southern California from his Half Moon Bay home.
The three quickly bonded during a meeting at a Manhattan Beach hotel. Almost 20 years earlier, her grandmother had confided to her that her father got his high school girlfriend pregnant and the child was given up for adoption.
The two sisters, who both graduated from high schools in San Pedro, and their new-found brother realized that for years, they had grown up and lived just a few miles apart completely unaware of each other. I tell people the story and they just look and shake their heads. It appears that her father, a merchant seaman, had married her mother, who gave birth to Rogan before separating and divorcing. However, the couple later divorced again and their father moved back to his home state of Washington and remarried.
