Go back to Andrew at the Inn of the Glade and ask him about the thief who tried to sell him the cross picture9. He reveals to you that he is a charcoal-burner who works near Rovna. If you have enough Speech at least 12 picture10 , you can get the name of the charcoal-burner, Tonchek picture As you have learned in previous quests involving charcoal-burners, their camp is still at the edge of the water. By questioning the first one on your right, when you arrive in the camp, you can interrogate him on Tonchek picture13 to get the location of his hut picture If you continue heading north, you can find another charcoal-burner who also visited Skalitz after the attack.

Not getting the information from the bandit directly will give you an extra step, but both paths lead to the same point. Head to the inn, and speak to the innkeeper about the knight. It seems he was very keen to find it. As it happens, this is the very place that the merchant Menhart was going to meet the bandit. The chest has a very hard lock so you might not be able to get anything out of it it contains some fancy merchant clothes and swords - but note the blood nearby. It turns into a trial of bloody footprints, so head up Northwest and follow the clues until you reach a Charcoal Burners camp. Asking around, someone will point you in the direction of the camp boss, in the Northern camp across a small stream. The boss will be reluctant to tell you more, but you can overpower him or use the clues you found to your advantage and learn that a surviving man from the attack was dragged here and kept in the nearby locked shed.
